The Arts

Art

We aim to engage and inspire our children whilst also equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to ensure they can develop their own love and appreciation of art. The children use a range of materials to creatively design and make products. They develop their drawing, painting and sculpting skills whilst also developing their use of colour, line, form, pattern, texture, shape and space. The children are introduced to a range of artists and learn to compare and describe differences and similarities between various art forms, whilst also making links with their own work.

 Music

Children at Iver Heath infant School and Nursery enjoy a music curriculum which includes them being actively involved in using and developing their singing voices, exploring body percussion and whole body actions, and learning to handle and play simple classroom percussion instruments. Through a range of whole school, class group and individual activities, children have the opportunity to explore sound, listen actively, compose and perform. Via the online  music scheme ‘Charanga’  the children also experience many different music styles from different places, culture and times. The musical elements of pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo and structure are experienced and explored throughout the music curriculum. Music is an integral part of the classroom, assemblies and celebrations and is integrated across the KS1 curriculum.
