Important Letter

27th March 2020

 Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of the first week of school closure I wanted to write to congratulate you all on your amazing efforts so far! Home schooling is not an easy option and, I am sure that you have all had some downs but hopefully also a lot of ups during the week!

I also want to say a really big well done to your children. It is a tricky time for us all and to be at home all day without being able to come out and see your friends and without having the familiarity of your school and your teachers is very difficult, they have done brilliantly! For many children the lack of a normal routine will be extremely challenging. As I suggested before please try to ensure that you have a structure to your day which includes not only learning time but also family fun time too. In fact you can get a lot of learning out of fun activities such as cooking together, playing board games etc.

I want you all to know that we, Iver Heath Infant School and Nursery, are still here! Please do feel free to email your child’s teacher or me at the school office email address above. I will pick up my emails every day and will try to respond as soon as I can. We are also working hard to create a more structured program for your child’s ongoing learning. Of course we do not know how long we will be closed for but we have to plan for this to continue into the summer term. Please look out for more emails from us with the latest ideas and learning opportunities.

Today I am able to tell you that you now all have access to ‘Serial Mash’ which is part of ‘Purple Mash’ and can be accessed in the same way. ‘Serial Mash’ offers a variety of books for children to read or have read to them and then to answer questions on.   If you follow the ‘Purple Mash’ link from the school website and use the usual password you will find a new link inside ‘Purple Mash’ that you can click on to take you into ‘Serial Mash’. The Diamond level are considered suitable for 5- 7 year old readers.

I am also sending out a link and a letter about a Physical Activity online platform called ‘Jasmine’. This has been developed by Create Development who also have developed our PE curriculum in school so the children will be familiar with the lay out and some of the games. Please do have a go! There are activities for every day and there will be more to come!

We are all thinking of you and we will continue to communicate throughout this difficult time. Please keep taking care of yourselves and the others around you.

 Yours sincerely

 Mrs J Baker
