Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care
At Iver Heath Infants school and nursery we believe that the pastoral care of our children is of the utmost importance. In order for children to learn and to enjoy their learning experiences they must feel secure, cared for and happy. Even before children arrive at our school we aim to be building positive relationships with them and their families. These relationships are very important in order for us to support and nurture the children throughout their time at our school.
All our teachers, learning support assistants, midday supervisors, office staff and premises staff work hard to ensure that the children’s environment and experiences at school are consistently kind, caring and nurturing.
We have an ethos which promotes positive behaviour and positive achievements whilst also recognising that we all must make mistakes along our learning journey, and that these mistakes inform our future learning.
There may be times when children need a little extra support to manage their feelings and on these occasions we have excellent, experienced staff who will work with the children both individually or in a small group in order to help them regulate their own behaviour and regain their positivity. Our Nurture Lead also runs regular support groups once a week for those who need a little longer to discuss and explore any concerns.
At Iver Heath Infant School and Nursery we recognise that all children have their own individual strengths, talents, interests and areas for development. We aim to foster and enhance all of these to the best of our abilities.
